Using Media in the Lab

The Language Studio provides some equipment for playing physical media. Our equipment includes:

  • 1 television set with VCR and laserdisk player.
  • 1 large monitor with computer and Blu-Ray/DVD player. Since there are no headsets, use of this should be reserved.
  • Sanako classroom with 30 student computers, each of which has a DVD drive.
  • audiocassette/CD playback via boomboxes on request.

We also have a collection of DVDs and other media, arranged by language. These items may be used in the lab. Students may check them out for use outside the lab only with the Director’s permission.

RESERVE: Instructors may leave materials in the lab for students to watch in the lab as an assignment. A student wishing to use a media item from the reserve must check it out at the desk, using a Gatorlink identification card. On the first visit, we will enter a few information items (usually just the name of the user) for our records.
