Foreign-language placement tests
Placement in elementary and intermediate courses, or satisfaction of the proficiency requirement, is determined by test scores. Spanish uses the WebCape test for this purpose. Currently (2018) there are changes in the tests used by UF to determine placement in other languages, but they are administered by Academic Resources and will most likely be the FLATS series.
Placement or satisfaction of the college foreign language requirements for native speakers, is usually done on a personal basis, by interview. The student should contact the language department to find out who is the appropriate contact for the language in question; if the language is not listed below, contact Academic Advising.
